Logan Fish Pond

Today we visited a very unusual place, Logan fish Pond.
It was created in 1788 by a Scottish laird who wanted to create a fish larder for his table.
The pond itself is formed from an ice age blowhole.
He also created a private bathing pool for his wife which can still be seen.
Now the fish and other sea creatures who live there are usually rescues, ie fish who have grown to big for their aquariums or in one case a lobster for sale on a Chinese market that was destined for the pot. Hector was purchased and now lives very happily at the fish pond, in safety.
Some fish when big and strong enough are tagged and released into the sea.
