We have a strange language don't we - I have a German friend who got quite irate about words that sound the same, are sometimes spelt the same, sometimes spelt differently and mean totally different things. eg row the boat, third row, cod roe etc. Then on sounds such, much, hutch, touch etc. So why is butcher boo and not bu We used to spend hours discussing this - she's in America now so at least she won't be too embarrassed like she was here when she remarked to a guy she knew only slightly that she loved his pants (underpants here in UK) |
