Teddie very bad again

Oh Alex, I'm sorry to hear that Teddie is still unwell but have to say that, like others, I have been so moved by this thread. We all love you and Teddie and are here to help and support you whatever happens. I agree that it is like a big family on here - despite the fact that many of us have never met! (roll on June and the meeting!)

I don't have any other advice to offer I'm afraid, but I really hope that she improves soon.

I do think that Smudgleys offer is a fantastic one too and it may be just what you and Teddie both need, although I know you'll miss her like crazy!!

Interesting (but not necessarily terribly heartening) to note that many cases have no known cause.
The Rescue Remedy and Feliway sound good, in that they are in my favourite category - 'can't possibly do any harm; may do some good.'

Well Alex I am sorry to read about Teddie's troubles.

My casper was on prescription food and my vet told me he would be on it for life.... So your current vet sounds a bit daft to me....

The felliway and the rescue remedy sound like they are a good option if it is stress related.... I would also recommend you take some Rescue Remedy lol as you are sounding a bit stressed yourself which may be rubbing off on Teddie.

Stick with the chicken, make sure her fluids are kept up and if you need to then the break would do her and you some good lol.

I hope Teddie's problems get better soon and that you finally get some success in finding the perfect Vet (the older smaller practices are usually the ones who care more about the pet than the money)

That made very interesting reading DM! About the only symptom teddie doesn't have re the colitis is the vomiting, and she's only had fresh blood in it once or twice due to her little botty being so sore. I have been doing a lot of reading the last few days (imagine that), and regarding the possibility that the most likely causes are IBS or a food allergy. I would like to find the best route to go down with her and I would prefer to manage it without long term drug use for her as a lot of the articles I have read have mentioned side effects. And the longer an animal is on the drugs, the more they need because of these side effects. So hopefully we can find a way of managing it through diet. But that is for the future, at the moment I need to get her stable, find a decent vet, oh and win the lottery, lol!!!

I wonder if you could boost her immune system somehow? Low immunity (maybe stress induced?) makes the body susceptible to all sorts of ailments.
Yola knows a good source of cat herbal/homeopathic remedies - maybe that would be a starting point?
Anyway, that's for later once 'things' have firmed up.

B vitamins are good for the imune system, stress and any levels of high toxins in the blood stream.
They are safe to use as they are water soluble, therefore any excess is flushed out of the system with urination etc.

I will try to look it out tomorrow at work, I know I have the original leaflet tucked into an old filofax there. They had all sorts of herbal remedies for animals in the place, but seemed to specialise in cats. I did post the details ages ago for Carly when she was writing about poor Mr Darcy's allergies . . .

Well, she's not had major runs tonight, more like little drips every now and again, so it is an improvement of sorts! Just hoping that she'll eventually remember what the litter tray is for! She's still bright in herself, but getting very fed up with being confined to the kitchen. That would be great to look into Yola, so thanks in advance for that.
