I'm going to give that to you - the cats are just called "polydactyl" cats. They are also called "Mitten" cats.

And the follow up Q .....

Now thats an interesting question the most famous american author who loved cats that I know of was Ernest Hemingway Lord knows if he had multi toed cats though.
