Yes, it was Emma. I saw it on Watchdog and thought it was quite interesting. They told of how the banks try and scare you out of claiming, but will mainly settle out of court at the 11th hour, as if it does go to court they don't have a leg to stand on. Abbey didn't even turn up in court in one case the the man won.

They did also say about how they are warning banks off closing accounts and giving them fines. Customers are ALLOWED to complain after all and we're not doing anything wrong..........the banks are.

The Financial Ombudsman said that they receive 1,000 calls a day in relation to this matter alone.

hahaha Good on Watchdog then Martin Lewis did state in his interview that more people now are claiming than in the past 6 months, looks like the banks are going to have this problem on their hands for quite a while.

About time really isn't it

I don't know if anybody on here is living on benefits and having to pay bank charges at the moment which are affecting money they have for essential items like heating, food etc. but there is a letter called "letter of appropriation" which can stop the banks taking money needed for essential bills.

You could ask them for copies of the statements, not sure you will get them if they are really old ones. but as you say nothing ventured etc.

Anybody interested in reclaiming their charges should watch Tonight with Trevor McDonald - it is on tomorrow on ITV at 8pm the last one was interesting and this is an update.

Read on the Consumer Action Group of a disabled lady who is 79 and has been charged £6000 + in charges.......where do these banks get off
