Re: Recipes - winter warmers wanted

Well I've just gotten the recipe of a garlic soup. Its really good. And strong, so its ideal if you have a cold (like I do... again!!)

Here it is:

Garlic soup:

15-20 cloves of garlic - finely chopped
2 cans of skinned chopped tomatoes (we have cans with 400 grams in... That would be 2 times 14,11 oz)
2-3 tablespoons of oil (I used more.. It wasnt enough)
8 dl (1.4 pint or 28,16 fluid ounces) of stock (I used veggie)
2 teaspoons of paprika (uhm you have that spice in UK?)
salt and pepper
cream for dinners

Heat the oil in a pot.. Blanch (I think ) the garlic for 3 minutes, don't let it burn. Pour in the tomatoes, stock and add salt, pepper and paprika. Bring to a boil, let simmer for atleast 45 minutes. After that pour cream in till it tastes allright.. Its got quite an afterburner taste....

I was thinking, you could add meatlumps if you wanted, couldnt you? To make it into a caserole? Chicken fillets or diced pork.. Even roasted sliced bacon on top. It would make a fine base I think. And its freezable

I just made it today and YUMMY! (I'm a picky eater btw)

Mmmmm Jeanette I love garlic! .........and we have paprika! It's traditionally Hungarian isn't it? The vital ingredient for goulash!
Will be giving the Garlic Soup a try once we've finished the Scotch Broth!

Certainly is, and that is what we are having to eat tonight although I am trying out a recipe for dumplings using olive oil instead of suet, it will give the other half something to moan about
