Re: Gloomy Tuesday

Thanks - as would you here. Any further thoughts on relocating?

Re: Gloomy Tuesday

I like applesauce with pork roast, home made. This may sound silly, but applesauce is good on a scone, as is home made cranberry sauce (not that jellified bought stuff). Kazz, I PM'd back, didn't you get it?

In disgrace! Smudge wouldn't come home and FINALLY turned up just as I was setting out for my run (late because OH is away and I like them in safe before I go out so I'd been waiting). When I got back and started to cook tea a teeny tiny vole popped out from behind the cooker so I had to catch that before I coudl finish cooking. I finally ate pasta puttenesca (sp?) at 8 o'clock.

Yes, I have to remind myself when bogged down in meetings and spreadsheets that I also get paid to visit castles, abbeys and forts. To be honest the stately homes are my least favourite- though I love the behind the scenes bits. I trained as an archaeologist so prefer the older stuff. Don't tell anyone but my favourite site is a neolithic flint mine........

Re: Gloomy Tuesday

Of course the staff has to retreive the rodents when the cats have finished playing! We have thousands of books so losing them behind a bookcase is a worry- it can take HOURS to move enough books to get behind a bookcase for retrieval. I keep trying to persuade OH of the joys of libraries but he can't get his head round taking the books back part

Buy him a Kindle! I'm a great reader and love books, but now that I have limited mobility the library is pretty much out, so the Kindle is a blessing. I have 9 books waiting to be read on it now.

Re: Gloomy Tuesday

Don't think I'd win the kindle battle- he LOVES secondhand bookshops and days out and holidays are planned round them. We were on holiday in Kent last year and he was very shifty about 'just popping back to Broadstairs for half an hour'. He emerged from a bookshop with a LARGE cardboard box containing a run of an academic journal- Proceedings of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society I think......
We have a deal, so many bookshop visits=an afternoon on a garden visit
I'd love a Kindle- I travel a lot for work and packing books can add weight but no way can I be anywhere without a book! What if the train was delayed!?! I wonder about one for my Mum who has problems holding heavy books these days.
