Re: Hi

Hi again!

Cats are usually pretty good after a spay, depending on where the scar site is there not much after care involved. My persian Posh, had a small scar on her side and ignored it. Pandora had a central tummy scar and she used to lick it but it healed anyway with just a bit of inflammation, which I used to clean with well diluted salt water.

She'll be springing about soon, don't expect to pet her much though

Re: Hi

It IS possible to socialise a cat who has had little human contact or which has been mistreated. It takes time, love and patience and above all a shift in awareness to see things from the cat's perspective.

I would concur that the spay should calm her down. However, give her space. Allow her to develop trust in you and to come to you. Don't ignore her, but don't pet her excessively or rush at her for 'cuddles'. Some cats feel threatened by this and lash out.

I have a most docile cat, however even he will scratch my sons if they crowd him, make sudden loud noises or treat him too roughly.

And PLEASE, ask your BF to exercise some control on his temper and display understanding instead of anger.

Re: Hi

Thank you posh puss and Lola for the advice. I'm hoping that she will be better after her spay.

Re: Hi

My cat Molly was like that. But she did settle eventually. She didn't like to be picked up either, so I didn't. I just let her do what she wanted, didn't let strangers get too close, because she was very nervous. She was fine.
