The latest news is that Shannon and the 39 yr old abductor where both found concealed in the divan drawers of a bed. He is her stepfathers uncle. Which beggars belief. When interviewed a few days ago, her mother said she knew she had been abducted, and when asked why someone would do that, she replied.'To hurt me of course'. Why would a mother selfishly be thinking like that? |

There is definitely something not right about this whole thing! Why is she subject to a care order now and not been returned home? I just hope the young lass can recover from the whole thing and go on to leada happy, normal life whatever the true story is. |

There is nothing to suggest there is anything wrong here with her immediate family. The care order is normal in circumstances where "family" are implicated, whether immediate or not. Im so pleased she is home, I hope in time she can forget about this and get on with her life. I SINCERELY hope nothing untowards comes to light regarding any one else in her family. Dawn. |

Although not returned to the family home until the police have finished questioning, which is normal as the child would not be able to speak to a lot of people as childrens stories change with more conversation, this would not be subject of a care order. In order to obtain this one has to present a clear immediate danger to a child, since that danger has assumably be removed then it would not be a care order. My feeling, having worked in social care and still with such legal proceedings, is that the family were being monitored anyway. (possibly in Child in Need proceedings) The uncle has had his children removed from his care. (The abductor, stepfather's uncle). He may have only been looking after her and harbouring her as she didn't want to return home, but those who are sane minded know that this is not the 'normal' way to go about safeguarding a child. |

Two things rang alarm bells about this family; one was the originally they said the child was 'vulnerable' which means they were aware of her and two the rather odd statement by her father that having her back as 'like winning the lottery'. I find this a rather odd, and slightly disturbing comment - I can't put my finger on why but it's just odd to me. Obviously BC knows a lot about this type of scenario, working in the environment . . . not an easy job - one usually where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't! I hope that Shannon can eventually move on from this and that neither her nor her siblings are exposed to such risk in the future. |

Also I found the comment from mum which said Shannon was abducted to hurt her...... a bit weird to say the least. She then should have said all the people who would have wanted to hurt her and why.(surely)She never seemed too bothered really which I thought was strange. The only difficult thing about working in such an environment is when social care, who ultimately have the say so, don't agree that a child is in clear danger and should be removed. That is hard to cut off from and it leaves me drained and stressed out. It is not enough for me to know I have voiced my opposition to their ruling and it never will be if a child may come to harm. |

The news today is saying that Shannon's mother has only been allowed to see her daughter through a glass screen. This clearly indicates the issues arising from immediate family members as noone would put a child through this amount of trauma unnecessarily. |
