Evening all, took my friend and her Cat to the vets today. Carrie is approx 14 years old and had been on treatment for her kidneys for a few years. She has recently lost weight and begun yowling a lot. Viv took her to the vets a week ago and after a check up was prescribed ear drops, told to carry on with her medication and see what happened. There has been lots of upheval lately at her house as workmen have been in and Viv had to leave her cats in the care of a neighbour. After a week she has put on a little weight but continues to make this very strange yowly noise, she's also not opening her bowels much. The vet has said that she's not constipated and feels the yowling is due to senile changes, she has advised Zylekene capsules. Poor Carry has also gone blind in one eye. So fingers crossed things improve. |

Sad to hear that Carrie may be in the early stages of feline dementia; that yowling is so heartrending when they have a disoriented spell.....  The partial blindness may not be helping. Although my Misty went completely blind at about 18, but never showed any signs of senility. |

Angie, Carrie is somewhere between 13 and 16 the vet said. I will ring Viv in a few days to see if the zylkene has had any effect. She's not sure of her age as she was a rescue. |

It's tricky when her age isn't definite. Poor girlie - I do hope the zylkene helps her. |
