Re: Hypochondriac or otherwise...

Well...

Cloud started having sneezing fits at about 9:30 last night... Bearing in mind she's on anti-b' which stays in her system for about a fortnight. She's now had several of them, poor poppet. Seems fine otherwise - is eating, drinking, playing like normal, but once or twice in an hour a short fit of the sneezes comes on... No nasal discharge either, and though one of her eyes is prone to being 'weepy' that's nothing new for her either...

Guessing it's just a case of keeping an eye out again, but...

Re: Hypochondriac or otherwise...

Sounds just like my OH - he often has bouts of sneezing for no apparent reason and then nothing for days.

Sounds like a specific allergy?

Re: Hypochondriac or otherwise...

Possibly, but to what? nothing new in the environment recently I don't think. Will wait and see if it progresses or not, and will make sure I mention it to the vet when she goes for her vaccinations - unless it progresses and I feel the need to take her back before that point in time!!!

I've no idea - can't isolate the reason for my hubby's sneezing either!

Ah well. As long as it remains as is and doesn't effect her any other way I'll simply keep an eye on it...

Re: Hypochondriac or otherwise...

Squirrel, these long lasting antibiotics that are injected can kill bacteria for a fortnight but can stay in the cat's system for 2 months, side effects can last this long too...so perhaps it may be side effect. Just a thought.. I stumbled across this fact the other day. If I find the website again I'll pm you the link.

Re: Hypochondriac or otherwise...

Thanks.

And I did wonder if the sneezing might be a bit of a side effect, but didn't see anything to suggest fully so on my check round the internet...

Here's the link I found for CONVENIA Squirrel, it mentions allergic reactions but it doesn't mention sneezing..I wouldn't rule it out though.

Re: Hypochondriac or otherwise...

That's worrying reading Truth. My vet practice uses these long acting antibiotics as a matter of course, I've never been told that there is the possibility of it causing problems. Although luckily, so far it hasn't.
