Re: Eva has cystitis

Glad you have got some meds for her today. Chloe had cystitus a few months back but it cleared up really fast with the various medicines.

Not a nice thing to have!

Re: Eva has cystitis

Thanx every one, she does seem a little more her old self already but still not passing much water, I am sure that will get better throughout the day or maybe even tomorrow.
I think it was the bite that made her feel better in herself Eva has NEVER bitten before and here I was telling the vet that she was just all noise when the viper struck I have teeth marks on each side of my thumb, she didnt break the skin though other wise the vet would have been giving me a bloody jab too

Re: Eva has cystitis

Elaine, as you know, Leia is high strung, but when she developed cystitis I cadged a ride from my neighbor and rushed her to the vet...she was so terrified that she weed a few bloody drops on the examining table, which he aspirated with a tiny needle for tests. She was put on antibiotics, then changed to anti-inflammitories (sp?) as it was not an infection. He also advised me to cut down on dry foods and to feed her Royal Canin (which she refused absolutely to eat!). I did decrease the dry food and she has not had another attack of cystitis since last December. Poor Eva! I'm so sorry the was stressed enough to bite you (ouch!), but glad she's feeling better now. (((hugs))) to you both!

Re: Eva has cystitis

Thanx again every one. I am not feeding any dry foods atleast for a few days and am also adding a little extra water to the wet foods. Vet seemed pretty confident in my description that it was cystitis and so didnt ask for a sample.
She is currently sleeping under the bed so shhhh.
