Re: Caspurr's results are back.

Thanks all. I'm sure once the wee man gets over this bout he'll be ok. Look on the posssitive side. Its treatable. I'm sure he will be fine.

Re: Caspurr's results are back.

That is terrible - would the breeder have known, I tell you I would not be best pleased, its another reason another cat will not enter this house with Cleo in it, taht sort of thing could be the end of her. Sorry I would be livid, and claiming all my vets fee's back from her from Abi, did you have a contract Jac?

Caspurr is so lucky he has gone to a caring home. Poor Abi I hope they are both fine.

That is totaly outrageous - does or should the breeder be aware of that sort of illness? at least it is treatable. But I get really mad very this type of behaviour from breeders. Taking on a poorly cat is one thing (I did with my Oz) and would again but knowing the facts.

I hope Monday berings the good news you so deserve.

Re: Caspurr's results are back.

Well, at least you know now what it is and that it's treatable! I'm horrified at the breeder; can't wait to read about your conversation with her! Question for you breeders here: he can't be shown with this, can he? (((hugs)))!!

Calici virus is a strange one, a lot of breeding environments/rescue centres and multicat households will have at least one virus shedder/carrier. I read somewhere that Calici is high amongst the cat showing population too. Virus shedders can stop shedding unlike with herpes where they will carry it for life, a lot of cats with Calici will rid themselves of the disease. He shouldn't be taken to a cat show whilst he is known to be carrying the virus as the potential for it to spread to other cats is very high.

I'll see if I can find any articles about Calici..

Re: Caspurr's results are back.

Eileen, he is what is called a mismark. The blue spot on his chin. He wouldn't be able to be shown anyway.

Kazz. I'm going to have her guts for garters I'll tell you. I have a contract but it just say''s that if I cant look after him for any reason she'll take him back. Nothing about illness.
Oh and I must have him sipped, which I would anyway.

Re: Caspurr's results are back.

Jac, although this is bad news, at least you now know what you are dealing with and it could have been worse. As the others have said, Calici is treatable and can be managed for life with no evidence of illness at all.

Fingers crossed for the little man and for Abi. Hopefully he will be over the worst of it now and come out the other side.

Lots of hugs to you all.

Oh, and I totally agree that you should speak to his breeder and hear what she has to say about all this. Keep us posted.

Can only echo what others have said Jac, but at least it's not more serious and can be managed. x
