cats protection dilema {help}

I am sure in your heart Smudgley that you know how you want to handle this difficult and delicate decision. I seem to remember in a previous thread about New Year resolutions, you said you hoped to cut down on CP work. I think cutting down on the fostering pens sounds like a good start - taking on more work doesn't. Please take good care of yourself.

Kel. You are in exactly the same place as I was with the dogs! It was taking over my life. I had dogs at home and in kennels. Every phone call was about a dog. The older kids started to resent what I was doing.
Plus all the time wasters!
As you know I ended up giving up totally.
I would hate to see you giving up. Cut back to one pen. Give the other job a go and see how you feel. Delegate!!!!

smudlgley can I ask you what job you have? You work in a shelter?
I would agree with others that try fostering less cats than because if you are a supervisor you can help cats more in a long run. And convince as many people as you can to foster cats.

hi Miki, No I don't work in a shelter. I work full time with dogs. The cat rescue stuff is completely seperate to my full time job & the cat stuff is all voluntary.

Do what you think is right S, but don't spread yourself so thinly that you and your family start missing out. Balance is everything. But you are a balanced person

I have to agree with what has been said, you need to do what you feel is right for you and your family. You have done so much already rescuing the cats you have and maybe it is time to switch focus to another area of cat rescue. Supporting other fosterers will help just as many cats if not more as you can provide a lot of advice and insight having been there yourself.

You can't do it all without cost to yourself and then that doesn't help anyone

You've summed it up beautifully. You are so right. I do want/need a break from the fostering & I do want to have a new challenge / focus but still help the cats & I guess if I am pro-active in recruiting volunteers for fostering then everyones a winner.
