Thanks for raising awareness of this. It is a very serious complication of fleas of which not many know about. My friend lost a very healthy 4 year old to this so it isn't only the young that it can be fatal for.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have not gotten very much information from the vet or the internet, and no one I know has a cat with hemabartonella. My 15 year old Persian was diagnosed in December 07, and this is the first clear information about the disease I have found. We've never had a flea problem, he's strictly indoors, and I have no idea how he contracted this illness. Again, THANK YOU for the info.
