Re: Newbie

he's really doing better, he's also eating the probiotics, he's currently waiting for his fish lol, he's been out for a couple hours, and I have an extra dog for a couple days and has not wasted time in telling her who is boss. Which is a shame as she hasn't done anything wrong!

Hi
Welcome to Catsey

We have a dog in renal failure - not fun especially when they get sick. Once you get them stabilised you can live with it. Sadly our girl seems to be slipping after being stabilised for a good while.

Re: Newbie

Salem is getting better now, I tried to mix some meat in the fish but he picked the fish out lol. I'm quite happy to keep him on the fish for now, and started adding the Ipakitine which he is also eating now. I now think he was already feeling ill and the powder was just a coincidence.

Re: Newbie

Hello, not been on here for ages, but thought I'd give you all an update on Salem. He's doing so much better now, we had a bad weekend in which he didn't each much then had a bad diarrhoea episode and lost more weight. I really think it was the biscuits the vet said he could browse on all day, I know my cat I shouldn;t have listened to him and not allowed him to have ad lib dry. After that he was on a fish only diet for a few days, and then reintroduced wet meat to him in the fish, along with the powder and he's regained weight, and a lovely sleek shiny soft coat.

I'm glad to hear Salem has stabilised after the hiccup you described. Yes, you know your cat best and what he will eat and what he shouldn't. If he has a nice shiny coat, that's a really good sign. Long may it continue.

Re: Newbie

That's great news about Salem. You are doing a fantastic job with him.As angieh has said, you know your own cat and you instinctively knew what he needed. Good for you, Black Cat.

Re: Newbie

Thanks all, he means the world to me, and I really don't want to lose him yet. His sisters life was cut short 3 years ago and miss her dearly, they had such different personalities. But since she's gone he's really come out and shown his affectionate side.
