Best Age To Spey At?

I would give your vet a ring Luke to see what age he advises ......... I would have thought 6 months but I know some vets do the op earlier......

I don't know tbh Luke! I've been thinking on this lately too because of Teddie, but have decided to wait a fair while until she's a lot stronger, but obviously she doesn't get out and both Broxi and Cooper are done. I'd just give my vet a ring and see when they prefer to do it.

She seems a big kitten so anytime from now onwards should be ok. I certainly wouldn't wait till after 6 months. All my Persian kittens that are sold as pets are sold with a contract that states they have to be neutered at 6 months of age as accidents can and do happen in the most careful of houses. I have known of tom cats breaking through windows to get at a queen in call that was supposedly safe inside.

I seem to be living proof of that Kay!!! lol

I know that I had my boys done early as they were getting frisky from a young age and the vet said that if you could see their "package" then they were old enough to have it done!! I know there's nothing to see with girlies though.

I'm the same as Kay and will be selling my pedigree kittens (when I eventually have any!) with a contract and restrictions and I won't be handing over the pedigree papers until I've seen proof of neutering.

I'd say the sooner the better Luke.

Thanks All, will give the vet a ring Monday morning n see what he says for when he can book her in, i know he won't have any worries about doing the op as he said last time we were there how she is more than big/.strong enough to be able to cope with it, and that was about a fortnight ago.

my cat uma was done at 4/5 months she was coming into and going out of season so fast during summer, she was sooo stressed and losing weight i dont think it helped that she was in a cattery at the time
