Re: He's come home to die

I've been given an amazing gift, it now appears it may have been an acute episode. Vet said his levels are now just high end of normal range, nothing like the improvement he'd have expected if he was chronic. Previously he was off their scales. Need to keep up the meds for a couple of weeks to know for sure. I'm counting my blessings, taking what I can from the experience, and enjoying every moment with him.

Re: He's come home to die

Sorry to hear the news feliss. My Harris had cholangiohepatits last year and was touch and go for about 2 weeks. His levels were sky high as well as his liver was badly damaged. He was on constant meds and bloods taken every few days. Took about 4weeks to get them close to normal but a year on he's here and back to normal. I know it's not the same illness as your wee guy has but my reason for posting this is to give you a little bit of hope. X

Try not to despair too much just yet, with meds and fluids cat can recover from acute kidney issues.

That website is amazing isn't it Elaine. It's top of the search results which is great, really helpful resource. Helped me understand so much. Myszka is playing with Mitsu, something he hasn't done since he got ill, such a good sign!

Felis, that's great news about your Myszka. I'm keeping everything crossed for you and him.My previous colourpoint lived for a number of years after he was diagnosed with acute renal failure. The regular treatment ensured that he had a good quality of life. Your boy certainly seems to be on the mend.Hope all goes well for him.
