insurance and holiday nightmare

Helen, morethan do a discount for a second pet but it was still more expensive than Malaika's. It was a couple of pounds cheaper each month if bought online but i forgot about this when the salesman rang me

OH has been using a comparison site this morning for dog insurance. It seems that even if you use a dedicated puppy site, they still ask questions about neuter and spay which won't happen until at least 6 months old. What do you do in the interim???

you just have to pay the price Angie.
Both out breeders actualy recocomended leaving neuter/spay untill at least 12 months, although i think most vets say 6 months.

Angie choose an insurance and go with it the pup will be coming I assume nealry every KC reg pup does with KC puppy insurance anyhow runs for 6 weeks I think to cover the interim between breeder and owner.

Breeder said that it has been reduced to 4 weeks now, but yes, he will have a month's protection. We've been looking at this company this afternoon. I think it's the one our vet practice is advertising now. They used to use PetPlan.

Angie, they look pretty good-fairly similar to PetPlan, Darcy is on their 'Covered for life supreme' cover which goes up to £12,000 per annum. I pay £23 a month at the moment.
Looking at the details, they do cover dental work so long as you have an annual check up (which should happen with boosters) and go ahead with recommended procedures-I had to explain to a client that the work for their cat's fractured tooth wouldn't be covered as they had left it for 2 years before doing anything
Exclusions on prescription diets is pretty standard, if you are ringing them, I'd check things like OOH hospitalisation costs (some vets charge more overnight/weekends and policies will sometimes pay a flat rate, can work out expensive for something you would assume would be covered) and fees for lab tests/pathology. If you vets recommend them are they willing to do a direct claim?
