Re: Alpine Saturday

Angie, that looks divine!! Did you make it or did OH? I'd happily pop round for a cup of Earl grey and a few slices of that

Wagamama's is a Japanese noodle bar, but it's a big chain which is considered 'trendy' and in London a few 'celebs' go there. I'll be having the Cha Han, a big bowl of rice with chicken, prawns, veg, and a little bowl of Miso Soup with Pickles, and perhaps some duck dumplings with plum sauce. Oh and some warm sake to wash it down with *goes dreamy eyed* But I'd still have room for some of your cake!

Re: Alpine Saturday

The cake was a combined op, meep! I do like the sound of Cha Han - I have never eaten Japanese food, but that does sound just lovely. I will be having chicken jalfrezi tonight (cheat's version!). The cake was lovely, but have to admit the butter cream was very sweet. Really wanted a chocolate granache but although we had the chocolate, we had no double cream.

Re: Alpine Saturday

Ah but the problem with ganache is as it's fresh cream you need to eat the cake asap before it goes off; butter cream lasts a weeee bit longer

I'm not a huge fan of excess noodles either but Wagamama's does have an excellent choice; including some large soups with lighter noodles in them, a delicious spicy coconut one. It's quite ridiculous I could rattle off half the menu

Re: Alpine Saturday

Do they do the cellophane noodles that dandysmom mentioned in one of her recipes? I have never seen them in the shops down here, but probably could source them online. I am rather fond of noodles.

Edit to say: So sorry Natalie!
