sounds bizarre but they are loads of fun, like being a kid again. fun for all the family. I have this kite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D0rcqH6UiY. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oETUgDEWeVg If you have some nice open fields near by then its perfect to fly it in. Its not hard to fly as well. Pick it up in 5mins. Good excuse to get out on windy days. If he's not the type and prefers his gadgets then the new Nintendo DSi comes out in April. |

All great suggestions, especially the pendulum clock and kite! I personally would say a good 'piece' like the clock or kite, of good value that will last and last. If he likes exploring heritage, and therefore the past, perhaps an antique piece? |

What about a membership of the National Trust or similar? Can spend weekends messing around in stately homes and their grounds! Or a Tiger Moth flight if a glider is a no-go? I did that for OH a few years ago and he was (pardon the pun) blown away! A day in a racing car? A hospitality trip (with champers etc) to GoodWood Festival if Speed? Most blokes are petrolheads to some extent . . . even I loved my GFOS outings |

Yes, Festival of Speed is a good idea. We have been once before, but we both enjoyed it. A Tiger Moth? Now that sounds very good .... I'll see if I can track that. We are both members of National Trust - have been for over twenty-five years. If I remember correctly, we joined during the same week we got engaged. In Cumbria, pouring rain ........ got "nabbed" by a friendly and very wet chap in a car park. Been members ever since. Should have said: Thanks for all the suggestions - keep them coming! |

Yup - we went several times in the pre-children days . . . there's nothing like the rumble of a seriously-powerful racing car to get the pulse racing. Seriously toying with it for this year as the littlies are not quite so little any more |

We both did the rally driving at Silverstone some years ago - bought for each other at Christmas. That was wonderful, rally enjoyed it. The instructors were excellent. I was pants! Sorry, did not intend the pun! |
