Energy saving light bulbs

They're green because they use much less electricity, most of which is generated in coal burning plants, also they last longer. I still dislike them, they are not bright enough.

The fact that they contain mercury though, makes them lethal dont you think?

Are they really worse than flourescent bulbs which also have something very nasty inside them? (forget what), or our TVs that also have mercury in them?

One of my little TVs died and had to replace it; the packaging on the new one said not to discard the old one in the regular trash because of the mercury; so now have no idea what to do with the dead one!

Edited: I looked up the flourescent tubes, it's mercury in them too.

low energy CFL are just flourescent tubes but smaller, they are the same technology

the newer ones are just as bright and reach max brightness much quicker than they used to
