Mum was champing at the bit this morning so decided as we were fast running out of food i might as well attempt going round to local shop. Got mum across into car which is much more difficult than it sounds as her mobility is very very poor. Under about 6" of snow discovered thick ice on the car. Back to house for de-icer & tougher scrapper. Got snow cleared off & around wheels, tried to drive forwards, no joy, reversed, forward & got stuck, deep snow under it at front, gave up when warning lights & beeping started. Had to dig out front wheels, car was partially out over the road. What a fiasco. Finally got wheels free again, got the car reversed back again - talk about a relief. It may stay there until weather breaks Mum couldnt understand why when she was in the car we weren't going to the shop! Got in touch with my brother & he is going to get the shopping tomorrow as he has to go up into Belfast Mum keeps telling me we will go out tomorrow - i dont like to say to her that we literally are snowed in!! I wouldn't attempt to move the car again. I cant help thinking if i still had my wee old Micra, i might have got to the shops. Ah for a 4-wheel drive!!! |
