Rover does the same. He also likes company, so if I go, he goes. I don't tend to balance grains of catsand on my nose, though.

Good point DM - it probaby is. We remove their scent, so they get straight back in there and create more!!! lol

According to Pam Johnson Bennet, cat behaviorist, this a way of expressing dominance in a multi cat household. The first one to "claim" the box is usually the dominant cat. Cats can be dominant in one part of the house, and lower on the ladder in another. so it is possible that one cat is dominant at one box, and a differnet cat at another.
