It IS possible to socialise a cat who has had little human contact or which has been mistreated. It takes time, love and patience and above all a shift in awareness to see things from the cat's perspective. I would concur that the spay should calm her down. However, give her space. Allow her to develop trust in you and to come to you. Don't ignore her, but don't pet her excessively or rush at her for 'cuddles'. Some cats feel threatened by this and lash out. I have a most docile cat, however even he will scratch my sons if they crowd him, make sudden loud noises or treat him too roughly. And PLEASE, ask your BF to exercise some control on his temper and display understanding instead of anger. |

My cat Molly was like that. But she did settle eventually. She didn't like to be picked up either, so I didn't. I just let her do what she wanted, didn't let strangers get too close, because she was very nervous. She was fine. |
