Right! So I eventually bought cloud some of these... wasn't quite sure what kind she'd like best, so ended up getting 3 different ones - all different sizes. In the end, I gave them to her 2-3 hours ago, and while she plays with them all in different ways, I just caught her giving the biggest one a good kicking in the last 10 mins. Score!

That's for sure! I've learned very quickly that some toys are a complete no go. Might as well use them for decoration as anything else!

Dylan never bites and doesn't usually scratch (only been scratched once and that was when he panicked when I was holding him, even then it didn't draw blood or anything.

Hmmmm... I've just realised what the 'gentle bite' is... probably better described as 'nipping' and when it's not part of the inappropriate play stuff, it's probably far more like what one webpage I've just visited states:

Gentle biting, often referred to as nipping, is actually a sign of affection. Cats use nipping in the way humans would use a kiss. Nipping is often accompanied by other affectionate behaviors, such as rubbing.

Best way to react to this then? It's not fair on her if I pull away when she's just trying to say 'I love you' in cat language! and as it's gently done, it's never likely to hurt me... right?

Absolutely! Actually even if it hurts, I'd try not to pull away because that might trigger prey instinct. Instead, I'd try to distract her!
