Thanks folks I still feel a bit raw. One of my friends was given a tiny kitten at weekend, supposed to be six weeks but no way. Daughter wanted kitten and parents said no, so said daughter got one and said she found it hoping parents would agree - they didn't. Anyway wee kitten has fell on its feet with its foster mum.

I packed up all Jimmy's dry and wet food today and will give it to my friend tomorrow. I felt very sad doing so but obviously it was not meant to be - Jimmy has gone to a better place.
