Re: Candy's dodgy tummy.

The vet called me earlier today- nothing showed up on the x-rays, he has taken a blood sample to run again to check for infection and send off for an thyroid equilbrium test. He could feel no lump n her neck- so no biopsy needed. Unfortunately she has lost MORE weight though and I am gutted. He says she may have a diffuse tumour which we can only diagnose with a gut biopsy and neither of us are really very keen to go there- it wouldn't change treatment and she is a nightmare to deal with so nursing would not be easy.
She still has a lump from a tick bite so he will give her a shot of convenia ( lasts 2 weeks) and a shot of steriod to see if it helps, its the next step in treating IBD and how they would treat a diffuse gut tumour, so I hope it helps.

Re: Candy's dodgy tummy.

Just been called by the vet, and we are both surprised to find that Candy may be in the initial stages of becoming hyperthyroid!

Her free T3 is well above normal (6 - 30), she is 43.
We are going to trial start her on 10mgs of vidalta, if nothing else it will hopefully stop the weight loss.
Next problem will be giving her the bloomin tablets- I'd better get my gauntlets on.

That's a much better diagnosis than diffuse gut tumor ! Hope the new medication will stop the weight loss; good luck pilling Candy!

Re: Candy's dodgy tummy.

I have to pill Tom daily and always give him his pill in a piece of chicken or occasionaly sausage. I buy the frozen strips of stir fry chicken from tesco and just thaw out a few pieces at a time. Have to say it works a treat.
