Re: confused cat

i've had two partially blind animals now and the pupil was always unresponsive. i suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask again or maybe even get a second opinion. sounds like a red flag to me?

Re: confused cat

That's how I realized my Misty had gone blind; her pupils were enlarged and no reaction whatsoever to a flashlight being shone on them. But she coped amazingly well. I hope the checkup will find what's bothering Toby and that he can be treated. The yowling does make me suspect premature senility .......

Re: confused cat

Has he had any bloods done or his blood pressure taken?

I tend to agree with the others on this and it may be worth getting a second opinion if your vet disregards these things.

I thought you'd posted about him before.
How long ago was it that he was checked by the vet?

Re: confused cat

As above- my very first thought would be high blood pressure- the vet should be able to test it with a cuff like humans get tested with. If not then hyperthyroidism would be next- I am inclined to think there is usually a medical problem rather than 'just' senility. Another thing I would test is kidney function- he could be in discomfort and high blood pressure could lead to CRF.
