Re: Our new puppy foster, Poppy!

Thank-you all. She is about 6 months old, she looks so small compared to our other two! She has been so good today, toilet training is coming on well. A pleasure to have around.

DM, I love longdogs too!

I had heard that greyhounds/lurchers didn't get on well with cats in the same house - is that a myth?

I hadn't heard of that before?

My auntie is onto her second lurcher and she has 3 cats and has never been a problem. Stealing food from the fridge and chasing people on pushbikes has tho lol x

Not a myth exactly, greys & lurchers are often trained to chase and lurchers to catch rabbits, etc, so some will chase and kill cats sadly. However, not all of them do this. My blue greyhound is an ex-racer, but lives happily with our cats. However, he is very keen on cats outside our house and I wouldn't like to say with certainty that he wouldn't hurt one. Caleb was only 9 months when we had him, so probably never trained to chase, Poppy has probably never even met a cat before so her prey drive is non-existent! My previous grehound and lurcher were fine with our cats too.

I know of many greys who live in harmony with cats, but unfortunately there are many others who wouldn't be re-homed with cats.

Here are some of my fav photos of our cats & dogs.
