Re: Pre-paid Credit Cards

My friend has a mastercard pre-paid credit card from 'The Money Shop'. I don't think she paid a fee for the card either. They sound like a good idea to me....

Re: Pre-paid Credit Cards

These are pushed here in the States especially for parents to give to their children in college. Apparently the parents can add more value to the card instead of sending checks. Seems practical. Have no idea if there's a fee to get one.....

Just found this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programme...ox/6116916.stm
tells you a little more about them, as they do seem to be becoming popular. Apparently the daily mirror has brought one out

This was just on Working Lunch, charges are:

£9.95 setup
£2.00 per ATM withdrawal
£2.00 to load with a Debit/Credit card

£4.95 /month service fee
or
£1.00 /transaction service fee

Seems a bit steep, but it could be worth it for some.

John
Naomi, is it still the same as this (as this was a year ago)?

Re: Pre-paid Credit Cards

Card Issue Fee £9-95 (one off payment)
Monthly Service Fee £4-95
Withdrawl from an ATM machine £3-00

Maximum of £15,000 a year, minimum of £10 a year.

It'll work for us as hubby works abroad so he'll still have access to money altho he is going to be told NOT to withdraw money from an ATM
