well i was thinkin the other day that we never have pancakes, so we made some pancakes the other day not realising pancake day was round the corner

i love having lemon juice and caster sugar.. yummmmm.

altho maple syrup and sugar wouldnt go amiss

Never tried butter on pancakes I am too old fashioned sugar and lemon juice.

Depends on what you grew up with, I suppose. We always had butter and sugar, so.......

I expect you all know the origin of Pancake Day ........

Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent - the 40 days leading up to Easter - was traditionally a time of fasting and on Shrove Tuesday Christians went to confession and were "shriven" (absolved from their sins). It was the last opportunity to use eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients.

Having a very strict Catholic upbringing I did actually know that.

Yes you are right, it proves a point though we may be different topping but underneath we all have pancakes.
