Re: New Job

I've worked as a Marie Curie HCA for 4 years now. Generally I do enjoy my job. I have to do quite a bit of personal care and sometimes with people when they die, but it's all part & parcel of the work. I can usually detach myself from my work, some patients get to me, particularly if they die young, but you need to keep a distance without becoming too detached to keep sane, if that makes sense!

Good luck whatever you decide.

Re: New Job

That sounds like just the thing you could be good at Julie, you're a very caring person . . . and I'm sure you will receive the training to enable you to deal with upsetting situations and how not to take the work home with you.

I know I couldn't do a job like that, and have huge admiration for those that do!

Re: New Job

I am still undecided, one minute I am all for it, the next the personal side of things get me unsure - I am guessing its just nerves.

I really want to take it I think, I do not want to let this opportunity pass me by, my letter confirming all details arrived today - that was quick! and one of my references rang today and said he had forms to fill in for me.

I am thinking, even if do not like it, I could always find another job, I am not liking or should I say enjoying JL so would of left anyhow.

God, this is so confusing, I am rambling now lol x

Re: New Job

Sounds as if you're thinking of doing it...... and as you point out, if you're not happy you can always look for another job! The stress at your present job isn't doing you any good.....the new one sounds like a good fit for you...

Re: New Job

Yeh I agree there, it is a great opportunity to do something different and learn new skills and if it doesn't end up being the thing you want to do, I think you will have gained more than you lost.
