She is to start a intensive three month course of treatment. We have an appointment on Monday where the vet is going to fully explain what exactly it entails. One of the things she has a very high allergy to is housemite dust. Not so good in a house fully carpeted however the vet is going to give us a special spray for her bedding & the house. I think the injections are weekly for three months then thereafter they get cut down gradually while the animal can tolerate it.
Food wise she has to go onto a perscription diet - Z/D. This may be difficult altho i may possibly put them all onto it as they are free fed & its easier to have them all fed the same. In a multi cat household it can be very difficult not to stop them eating each others food. That could be problematic as far as Jac is concerned & his loose bowels, ive only just got a food that suits him
. Im hoping that the Z/D will agree as it is so specialised towards sensitivities.
Its all going to be horribly expensive as you can imagine so i was exceptionally thankful as each one came into the house I insured them. The vet claims directly from PetPlan. I only have to pay the £100 initial excess. The vet is claiming the last few times within the last year Mindy has had the other granulomas so that will take care of the excess.
I asked the vet could it be possible that the reason Mindy took herself off up to the cat rooms for hours on end was to do with the fact she has felt miserable & itchy & not because she was a Tortie. Most of the cat folk laughed when i mentioned her doing that & said - 'shes a Tortie & they do things like that' The vet agreed it is highly possible this is the reason for Mindy staying in the cat rooms. Its cooler there too so probably more comfy for her. Vet thinks it will be interesting to see how her wee personality is after the 3 months intensive treatment
I just hope Mindy isnt too traumatised by all the vet visits & treatments as she is a nervous wee soul :/
