Re: Scabby Sores On Neck

It could be that the collar has rubbed on the skin and chafed it. Since I took Tess`s collar off after noticing she has a bald bit about 5 years ago her fur has nt grown back so I doubt it will now. She has a ring where her fur was although its hardly noticable to be honest as her fur is thickish. I would think maybe its like your puss has eczema because of her collar - glad its healing but do let us know what it is! Jan x

Re: Scabby Sores On Neck

Just got back from the vets and they said that she has had a allergic reaction to the collar she had on. The vet said it looks like its clearing up nicely and said to carry on washing with salt water once a day. Shes also on Prednisolone tablets (Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy tablets) half a tablet a day for a week then half one everyother day. Then back to the vets in two weeks.

Poor little Maire! You did the right thing and I am glad to hear that her condition is improving. Will you leave her without a collar in future, after she's completely healed of course?

Re: Scabby Sores On Neck

Just a quick update on Maire. She is now fully healed and her fur has nearly fully grown back now which is great as i didnt think it would. The fur has grown back slightly thicker but its not noticeable

I think im not going to risk putting another collar on her now. I dont want to even try with another material incase it causes her to have another reaction. She is a house cat like my other two and thers no chance she could ever get out, so it wont really matter if she doesnt have one on.

Re: Scabby Sores On Neck

So glad to hear her neck has healed up and the fur has grown back. I certainly wouldn't bother with another collar.
