i also send back prepaid envelps as well (although not to charities yet) last year i must of had about 15 free pens and i try to keep the ppl on cold calls on the line as long as i can, i let them start and then say i will be right back as some1 is at the door and then just leave them there LOL

A friend of mine did that to someone from a call centre cold calling

They wanted his bank details so he told them to hang on and went off for half hour to watch telly or something. Came back to them and said he couldn;t find his bank statement. When they said 'You were just wasting our time' he said 'Yes and you're wasting mine'

I have to admit that when I receive a free gift through the post from a charity, it makes me question whether they are spending their money wisely and totally puts me off giving anything.
Also, when people are collecting for charities, normally around the high street or inside supermarkets, I am happy to put some money in their tin, but if they are quite aggresive and rattle the tins in people's faces, then that does put me off a bit. Afterall, some people may not be able to spare the money.

They are not legally allowed to rattle the tins. They are supposed to just stand their and let the public approach them.
