I use AVAST its the best thing ever and yes its free  it does a boot up scan so if someone plants a really good virsus on your pc, it get it before you even load up , plus it does its own updates and while you work it is always scanning your pc and this screen comes up and its says warning really loud scares the poo out of me sometimes , plus another good thing doesnt let you open any email that has a virsus in it! |

I have a Mac, which is virtually virus-free (supposedly!!  ) so don't have anything but the Mac Firewall which I update whenever they tell me to. |
