Re: Does anybody use talktalk?

Not sure about talk talk - but I'm having a Telewest broadband line put in on Thursday. (phone only) it's free instillation & is £16.50 per month.
Free evening / weekend calls to any landline

Argh, Telewest! Hope you have better luck than me with them! (I'm sure you will. )

That's fine CJ. Glad I could help. With companies like TalkTalk, it's easy to chop and change your service provider because they all use the same line. it's just who you pay the bill to that changes. If they have no 12 month contract (which many companies that use BT lines don't) then you can just continually swap to whoever has the best deal - which was my intention but with my bills being so small (lots of mobile minutes that I use) it would be like splitting hairs!

I'm not changing my phone line or internet.
But am having a 2nd phone line installed for Cats protection & as BT wanted £100- but Telewest is free, we said ok to Telewest.

Ahh, that makes perfect sense. BT are a pain in the bum if you want a brand new line - the cost is outrageous! My parents moved into a newly built house a few years ago and BT quoted £100 - and said they would have to dig up their new drive themselves (a mean feat in itself!). They ended up going with NTL who, although useless, connected them for free (after 12 weeks of waiting! )

Broadband was my biggest bug bear with Telewest so I'm sure you will be fine. Do watch their billing though - my last month I was with them, they obviously got twitchy as they charged me twice - and the bill was already almost double what it should have been!

Re: Does anybody use talktalk?

I was with TalkTalk and they cost me more than BT did. They also had this £1000 cashback scheme if they didn't save you money. I sent them proof and you know what?.....

I never did get my £1000

Moved to HomeCall who were just as bad and even tho I cancelled my account they are still sending me bills for £0.50 a month for admin charges

Back with BT and this is where I'm staying

hmm thinking of staying with bt for a while at elast. But internet wise, may go back to dial up, from 3.99 a month. saves a few pounds

The only good thing about being with HomeCall is that they don't phone you 10 times a day trying to convince you you can save money if you switch! Neil wanted a specific housephone (for his birthday) and the only place I could find one was in Phones 4 You (who own Homecall). They said they would take almost 75% off the price of the phone if I signed up to Homecall (that amounted to almost £75!! ) and I argued for about 45 minutes but eventually decided I'd take the discount and cancel it as soon as it came through. Much easier said then done though as everytime I phone them they rant on for ages and basically refuse to cancel it (that's if I can understand what they are saying of course! ) I'm going to try and be strong and try again soon though and refuse to take no for an answer!

What do you get for that? I have never paid a subscription for dial up - only ever the 'pay per minute' (what you use) charges.
