I use hubby's hand cleanser that he uses for getting oil and grease off his hands. Smells nasty but get's the stuff off. Then on goes the Nivea Hand and Nail cream.

Even the kids use the handcleanser cos they are always out helping dad on cars and get into such a mess, might see if they do little kiddies overalls

I remember my Dad always used Swarfega to clean the engine oil off his hands.....it had a smell all of its own!!

That's the stuff I was going to mention!!! Ex-hubby used that too . . . there is no way you'd get me to stick my hands in a tub of that

My dad was an avid gardener (allotments etc) and he swore by - wait for it-
granulated sugar and olive oil .
He used to put half a teaspoon of sugar in his hand and pour a little oil on.
Rub the hands together (like using soap) and rinse in warm water.
It gets the dirtiest of hands clean and leaves the skin as soft as a baby's ***!

Yep - heard that, or substitute salt for the sugar and posssibly add a spoonful of lemon juice. It works pretty well!
