Northumberland coast, the beach at Bamburgh, the causeway to Holy Island (watch out for the tides!), inland to Alnwick for a bit of history, then to Craster to buy freshly smoked kippers. |

Thanks everyone I will get info on all suggestions mark them on my map and then start the car and see where I end up so you may not see me for a while - although I may turn up on your doorstep - NO ONLY JOKING, |

Just thought of the Isle of Wight. The ferry charges are exhorbitant but once you get there it's lovely - like a time warp taking you back to seaside holidays in the 'olden days'! Trays of tea you can take from the sea front hotels to the beach! etc . |

I agree DM, another one of my favourite places. It is so quaint and the beaches are lovely. I love the Lake District too - oh there are so many great places in the UK, why do we ever want to go abroad? - especially with our weather at the moment!! |
