Re: Looking for suggestions

You'll think its pretty cheeky for a Yankee who's never been over there to make a suggestion...but, I recently finished a novel set in the Scilly Isles & was absolutely enchanted at the description!! If I didn't hate to travel that would be one place I'd LOVE to visit!!!

Re: Looking for suggestions

Northumberland coast, the beach at Bamburgh, the causeway to Holy Island (watch out for the tides!), inland to Alnwick for a bit of history, then to Craster to buy freshly smoked kippers.

Re: Looking for suggestions

Just thought of the Isle of Wight. The ferry charges are exhorbitant but once you get there it's lovely - like a time warp taking you back to seaside holidays in the 'olden days'! Trays of tea you can take from the sea front hotels to the beach! etc .

Re: Looking for suggestions

I agree DM, another one of my favourite places. It is so quaint and the beaches are lovely. I love the Lake District too - oh there are so many great places in the UK, why do we ever want to go abroad? - especially with our weather at the moment!!
