I think that's very good advice - they lose the cat who
he obviously doesn't like, you are able to stop the neglect, you get your new cat (he finds you - just as it should happen), Cleo is aware of him already, so shouldn't complain.
Looking forward to hearing your news.
PS - before we moved there was a poor cat who hadn't a home. We called him Mr Balls . He gradually plucked up courage to come in the house (same route as the resident cats - on fence, sloping extension roof, through bathroom window etc). He grew more and more confident, and despite still having his boy bits was soooooo sweet and gentle. And not a very good tom - he constantly had nicks and scratches and occasional bad places. He would let me bathe them gently. Finally he came in one day and was a real mess of battle scars. I waited to discuss with OH and we agreed that next time he came I would nab him, get him to the vet for castration/treament, and he would be ours. He next came in early on a Saturday morning. I didn't feel I could confine him for 48 hours - it would kill all his trust.
Guess what? A neighbour about 8 doors away nabbed him, did everything I was going to do and he lived happily with her and her other cat. He turned into a real beauty - semi-long tabby and white. From skinny, scabby Mr Balls to soppy gorgeous George!
There a happy ending - I missed out but the puss didn't.
Sorry Kazz - long and irrelevant story.
Good luck with your mission!
