Yes there was a lot of brown and orange then. And something I've noticed returning recently, which is a mix of brown and turquoise - didn't like it then, don't like it now! (Apologies to anyone who has just filled their wardrobe with same!)
....and yes, that bit of the giant's anatomy is meant to bestow fertility. Some legends would say that it arrives just by standing there, others will say that the would-be parents have to *ahem* on the offending article!
