How come lots of people say their cats have had immunisation for FIV? I didn't think there was a FIV vaccine.

Smudgley, this poster is in the States, and the FIV vaccine has been available here since, I think, 2002. I didn't know that it was available in the UK, however...??

I know Eileen, but if you read the responses lots of people in the UK have said their cats have had it too. I know it's been talked about - but I don't think it's available in the uk yet.

You are right Smudgley. I answered yes to that question too, had thought about looking at their vacc cards to check it but was too lazy to go get them.

Sorry if I wasn't clear; I was trying to say that, like you, I was surprised that so many people answered Yes, when it's not, as I thought, available in the UK. My vets don't recommend it: if your cat has the shot, becomes lost and is picked up by animal control and tested, it will test positive because of the antibodies, and be PTS!!! Mine are indoors, so never have contemplated the shot.
