Monkey puzzle are every green but SERIOUSLY prickly! I have one in the front garden that I planted at about a foot tall. It's about 8 years later and it's about 4 foot tall now. They are sloooooow growers but will grow to a huge size. Where we used to go on holiday as kids had one, and it was just huge. But the house was Edwardian and I guess the tree was planted at the outset which would have made it about 65 years old then. As I say, slow grower LOL!! |

I love these trees. Used to be one I passed on the way home from school. All the kids thought it unlucky if you talked whilst you passed the tree so we would all walk past in silence!!!! Surprised the teachers never got one for their classrooms!! |

Finally managed to get a pic of mine. I've been told that it takes a while for the shape to establish . . . you're telling me - mine's rather random in its growth pattern to say the least And a little closer up . . . |

Does he plan to be there in 50 years' time Emma??? Coz that's how long it'll take to grow to a big size. I bet you're fuming - nobody would tell me what to plant or not plant in my garden, not even my OH!!! |

Nor me Yola. In fact I thnk I'd almost do a 'cut off nose to spite face' thing and say OK. Garden is all yours now - no more veggies, no more lawn mowing, no flowers no nothing .... it's all yours chum. Methinks he might change his mind. |
