Great reply Smudgley. Although I would always get my cats to the vet if I was seriously worried, I often see how things are after a day or two (otherwise I would always be at the vet with my lot!!) Things often clear up on their own and perhaps a little help from moi! I find the on line pharmacies are good for treating pets with minor ailments.

The trouble with bathing an eye for a couple of days is that it may be an ulcer or a sequestra which definitely needs antibiotic drops and if left will need operating on. Ulcers cannot always be detected by the human eye and a dye needs to be admistered to the eye. If the dye adheres to an area of the eye then it is an ulcer/sequestra. Having had experience of both ulcers and sequestra's I would always take a cat to the vet with eye problems.

Update: Molly was fine in the evening and I was keeping a close eye on her on Thursday and yesterday. If it gets worse again she will be going to the vets. Thanks Everyone
