Re: Anyone for tennis?

I used to play at school/county level so I used to watch every single match avidly, but now I don't have the time or patience to watch My friend lives in Wimbledon and they get heavily discounted (and in some cases free) tickets; lucky her

Shame about Andy Murray, I like watching him play. Henman is just a load of hot air (IMHO), and I find watching him frustrating as the outcome is usually inevitable

Is it my age, or do most of the players have neither the grace or the charisma of the 70s and 80s players?

I like wimbledon, I always have. Hopefully there should be some good games. Hopefully reasonable weather too.
Seem to be no characters now.

Yes I agree Henman is like a present the wrapping is lovely but inside is still only a pair of socks

Re: Anyone for tennis?

I completely agree Yola, players like Bjorn Borg and Nastase were tennis players. Too much of todays game is fast serves and aces, there isn't the grace of the old game!
Nadal is a very good player Mags. I'll be watching him with interest the next few weeks.

Re: Anyone for tennis?

I'm not into sports at all, but my friend Carolyn (Kate's mom) is a huge tennis fan and will be glued to the TV during Wimbledon.

Re: Anyone for tennis?

I agree with the Meldrews who say they don't find it as attractive or interesting now as Connors, McEnroe & co. Can't get into the women's game at all - one blonde Russian/Eastern European (the Whatever-it-is-ova girls) v another or female giant v female giant (Williams x 2 & Mouresmo)
However, if I happen across a doubles match I'll usually watch. I find it much more interesting. Maybe I'm just more attracted to team sports?
Don't think there will be a lot of play today.
