Re: Neutering info?

He has had his first two vaccinations apparently, I just asked mum, does he need doing again?

Donna, did you call them? Will try and find a number and get mum to ring them.

Elaine, I kind of did keep quiet about it for a while because I was worried what people would think of us but hey, I had questions and hoped people would be nice, which you all have been! I know I sound stupid but I was scared of posting this but I thought hey this is a nice forum whats the worst that could happen.

If all went well with my sisters cat being neutered we'll hopefully ring the vets this following week to get him done.

edit: I always reply then have got more replies lol. Will definately give my parents a number to call. Do you think this number will be okay to call and ask 08702 099 099? It says it's a helpline thingy.

Re: Neutering info?

Jane a booster is needed every year. If it's broken then they will have to start from scratch.
As for being neutered it's a safe procedure don't worry.
We are ok here unless it's a full moon . No only kidding.

Re: Neutering info?

Jane, the important thing is that you are going to get him neutered and you are asking us for information......... that has to be good and I'm sure everyone here will be pleased with your decision and certainly won't criticise you.
Let us know how you get on

Re: Neutering info?

Okay well we'll ask the vet about vaccinating when we call. According to the website the CPL helpline is only open Monday-Friday so will have to wait.

Going out with dad in about 45 minutes so will have a chat with him about Patchipoos and money lol. We're guessing we need about £80-£90, because he will probably need to be vaccinated so yep. I have £20 I am willing to give towards him so that brings it down a bit eh. Will talk with dad then update you all (probably tomorrow)

I'm just so happy no one has critisised me or made out we don't love Patchikins

Oh yeah, I forgot, neutering just reduce the chances of him having a fight, right?

Re: Neutering info?

Its a very emotive subject Jane. I dont want to be nasty with any one but when you see all those poor unwanted animals etc, its trully heart breaking. For each kitten born, an adult cats dies because there simply isnt the room for all of them and kittens do have the aww factor.
Thats my personal view, others may or may not agree but this is not a debate so I wish you well and am sure your cat will recover very well from the op'.

Re: Neutering info?

I realise that Elaine and I don't expect people to be all like...I dunno, I can't explain lol, like I expect people to maybe think "eughh heres another stupid idiot who hasn't had their cat neutered yet" but planning it and hoping to get him done is better than leaving him unneutered for the rest of his life, right?

Re: Neutering info?

I know what its like to be scared to put forward a question on a forum for the abuse you might get (rabbit forum springs to mind!!) BUT I prefer to be supportive and helpful so that you find it easier to get the netutering sorted.

YOU know it needs doing which is the first step in the right direction.

If your dad is giving you £80 that is easily enough money for a neutering with or without a voucher!!!

Re: Neutering info?

Neutering will reduce the chances of him straying too far looking for a mate. It will also help reduce fighting. Is he a fighter? It should also stop him spraying or at least take the smell out of it. Once he has been neutered, dont let him out for a few weeks to make sure he is no longer capable of producing any more youngsters.

Re: Neutering info?

Thanks everyone for being supportive and not trying to rip me to shreds!

Donna, my dad isn't actually giving me £80 lol, I'm only 13 It's just that as a family we're all putting towards it really.

Elaine, he's had a few fights, one of which his ear was cut but it healed well. Do you have any tips for keeping him in afterwards? I guess if we play with him lots and keep him entertained all the time he wont want to go out?

Do you think when he's done he wont want to go outside as much because he could be going outside to look for a mate?

Am definately having a long talk with dad tonight. We all want him done, it's just finding the money really. Once he is done that will be a lot less worrying, then we are going to start saving up for any vet bills that may crop up.
