Paganism Emm,I love everything about it,its all so "natural" .
My mom was very good and let each and everyone of us descide what Faith/Religions (if any) we wanted to follow, she was very supportive with all of us.
Myself and my eldest sister are both very dedicated Pagans, celebrating not the christian holidays but the Pagan -

Imbolc,Spring Equinox ,Earth Healing Day , Beltane, Summer Solstice (one of my faves), Lammas, Autumn Equinox , Samhein , Winter Solstice aka Yule (again one of my faves)

I suppose you could call us "Witches"

Ed doesnt really have a religion but has agreed to a traditional handfasting ceremony (pagan wedding) and naming ceremony (kind of like a christian christening) for our children.
Its not easy trying to arrange a handfasting I can tell you because I want it to be out doors, either in the wyre forrest or at Avebury Stone Circle on the evening of the Summer Solstice

Re: Do You Believe...

That is very interesting, Erin; thanks for explaining. I was raised Catholic but have been lapsed for many years, and think Paganism from what little I know of it to be more in tune with nature, earth and the cycle of birth, death, rebirth.... the handfasting at Avebury would be awesome!

You have hit the nail on the head their Eileen, described it perfectly I have been to Avebury quite a fewtimes on the Summer solstice and I truely have never expierenced anything like it in my life, you done to be religious in anyway shape or form to feel the energy at that place,a handfasting there would just be a dream come true

And I do hope you can arrrange it some day! Have you been to Stonehenge? From what little I've read it seems to have become more of a circus, too many people there for any kind of a genuine experience......

Re: Do You Believe...

I am never sure. I was to young to remember my grandparents deaths and have not had the experience of anyone that I know having died (very lucky).

I would love to think people are still around, or you feel that there is "something more" when they have gone, but I dont know.

I would also state that I am not religious at all and find it hard to believe anything any religion preaches. So does confuse me with the afterlife/heaven bit.

Re: Do You Believe...

I went to Stonehenge on a school trip before they closed the Blue stones (innner circle) to the public, which I think was about 1978/9 our teacher was also a Pagan - and we really enjoyed the trip. As he was in awe of the stones the situation, stories, everything.

There were not many people there either as I recall. And we stayed till sunset really lovely place.

I really enjoyed it Eileen

Re: Do You Believe...

I have had many experiances over a lot of years . I strongly believe that when we leave this life there is something. I wont boar you with all that's happened but my first experiance was....

When I was about four I had a special auntie. We went alot of places together and spent alot of time together. I loved her to bits. Anyway this night I was woken and at the bottom of my bed was my auntie in a round light. She told me she had moved on in the world, she wasn't really dead she was in a special plac e but I wouldnt be able to see her anymore. Not to be sad but strong. In the morning My Mum and Dad called my brother and me to there bedroom and said we have something to tell you. I said I know auntie Betty's not hear anymore and they were gob smacked. That was my firs experiance. (hope it didnt boar you)

It sounds fascinating - I'm definatley going to spend some time reading up about it. I hope you are able to organise the Handfasting ceremony - and when you do I want to hear ALL the details!

I was brought up Baptist - but like you my mum even though is Christian is very accepting of other beliefs and that is how we were brought up - it is something that should be an individual choice and never forced on another.

I'm totally fascinated by religion - I really would like to study it more some day.
