Re: Daily Thread/Tuesday

Well, we went from being as dry and arid as the Sahara to the Brazilian rain forest ..it has been raining on and off since last night! Heavy downpour as I left the market...and the humidity is 97%...everything is sticky and damp!! I shouldn't complain as we really needed rain, but it is kind of depressing....and it's still unseasonably cool for August in Washington. Ah well, it's supposed to clear up and warm up by mid week!

Mags: hasn't been a good year for tomatoes, has it? First I had the squirrel and now seem to have some sort of blight...

Thinking of Misty .......

The blight ladies. Too much rain.
I can't beleive it's August and I'm not giving away pounds of tommies, freezing passata etc . Just about limping along with the 3 plants in the polytunne; they have almost no leaves and are giving me a couple of fruit a day, max, between them

I cant believe the terrible weather we have had this year - and the forecasters said on TV tonight that we are going to have more than normal rain in Autumn too.....

Feels like Autumn now... I have the living room fire on....

Re: Daily Thread/Tuesday

In the car on the way back from our wet week in Devon (2nd week of Wimbledon, end of June/start of July) we heard an article saying we're going to have this weather for a year . Dull, wet, cool, couple of nice days then back to dull, wet cool. It's La Nina (as opposed to El Nino), a body of water somewhere around Peru, I think (they've just had an earthquake there, haven't they?)

Did you see the thread I posted of my awful looking tomatoes with yellowing leaves and abnormally small fruit....a bad, bad year in the garden! The catnip, that was shoulder high last Summer (OK, I'm only 5'1", but that's still high!) is about mid-calf this year! Poor Leia!!!
