Well I lost it,the beast moved Ed got back just after 11.30 and searched the house for it but couldnt find it,so not sure if one of cats had it in the end or if it went up into the loft because the door was off,so Ed closed it for me.
It took me ages to fall asleep but I did in the end.
I feel quite stupid for posting this thread now though Im such a baby when it comes to spiders

No need to feel stupid, fear is often irrational, but it doesn't make it any less real

Glad it wandered off, I probably would have thrown things at it from as far away as I could to knock it lower and then thrown a cat at it

You're not stupid at all; I have the same horror of spiders, but I force myself to kill it because if I didn't, I'd be scared to death that it was still somewhere in the house and might walk on me in bed....!!! I think I'd have a heart atttack....
